Is there any existing tool or recommended workflow that can map a clinical radiograph to the NCIRF coordinate system for accurate placement of the x-ray field covering the anatomy of interest? I can manually place the field for a small number of cases, but this is not feasible for a large patient cohort. I am wondering whether there is any automated or semi-automated method to map the radiographic anatomy on NCIRF phantom and define the field size, orientation and source isocenter position within NCIRF coordinate system.

Currently, NCIRF does not have an automated tool to map clinical radiographs to the NCIRF coordinate system or to automatically define field size, orientation, and source/isocenter position.

At this point, the best available options are to either define the field manually using the GUI for each case, or apply a representative standard protocol to the full cohort. For large cohorts, the standard-protocol approach is usually more practical. In that case, uncertainty analysis for a small representative subset, especially for organs near the beam boundary, may be a useful alternative.
